Dear Members:
We are very sad to announce the closure of Faires Farms. Due to the $30,000 loss of last season because of aggressive deer, we are unable to reinvest in the 2013 season. This loss created tremendous financial hardship on our family. Despite this, we believed that we would be able regroup and continue in 2013 with the help of the government funding necessary to continue. Unfortunately, we exhausted all options and are unable to go forward, despite incredibly high demand that left us with a four year waiting list.
This was an endeavor that we believed in with all of our hearts, and we poured our blood, sweat, and tears into building an amazing farm that should have been a motivating force behind local food. Seeing the wonderful support for local food has been inspiring, and we wish so much that we could be the ones to fill that need.
We appreciate the shared risk that our members took on with us in an effort to make local food happen in our community. A CSA is a group battle against nature, and we hope that this loss won’t stop you from trying again.
